After School Enrichment
The 21st Century after School Enrichment program is offered Monday through Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Maritime Cadets are required to attend at least one day of "test prep" classes from 3 - 4 p.m. The Test Prep curriculum provides an individual plan for each student based upon what they need to know to advance their Ohio assessment scores. The entire 21st Century Program planning and assessment practices are directly aligned with each cadets regular classroom performance. 21st Century staff develop plans based upon students' academic needs and interests.
Cadets are encouraged to enroll four (4) days per week in the program. Enrichment activities include but are not limited to swimming, kayaking, creative art, dance, performing arts, fitness, and culinary arts. Boating, community service projects, leadership corps, and parade readiness are offered as well. Academic activities available include: Study Island, Read Naturally, and other additional academic tutoring.
This program relates nautical and maritime skills and themes to the cadet’s everyday lives. Charting Our Course Enrichment Program works with cadets in grades 5-8. The program engages students and their parents and/or guardians in reading and math.
The program's schedule is as follows:
- 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. the cadets are directed into “Test Prep” where they experience one-on-one tutoring and test prep help.
- 4:00 p.m. the Cadets have a nutritious snack.
- After snack cadets choose their enrichment activities which may vary from hour to hour or day to day.
Parents can enroll their cadets into the program by completing an enrollment packet. If you have any questions about the Enrichment program please contact Mrs. Kaitlyn Kruse or Mr. Aaron Lusk.
