The 21st Century after School Enrichment program is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. Maritime Cadets are required to attend at least one day of "test prep" classes from 3 - 4 p.m. The Test Prep curriculum provides an individual plan for each student based upon what they need to know to advance their Ohio assessment scores. The entire 21st Century Program planning and assessment practices are directly aligned with each cadets regular classroom performance. 21st Century staff develop plans based upon students' academic needs and interests using The Marazon Analytical Database Planning and Assessment System.
Cadets are encouraged to enroll 5 days per week in the program. Enrichment activities include but are not limited to swimming, kayaking, drumming, creative art, ballet, navigation, radar, and engine room navigation, boat building, fitness, culinary arts, Study Island, Read Naturally, boating, community service projects, leadership corps, and parade readiness.
This program relates nautical and maritime skills and themes to the cadet’s everyday lives. Sailing into the Future Enrichment Program works with cadets in grades 5-8. The program engages students and their parents and/or guardians in reading and math. This program also involves students in exciting nautical and maritime activities both on the water and in the classroom.
