Miller Boat On Lake Erie

The Hannah Marine Corporation partners with The Maritime Academy to support field trips to barges and tugs and to establish future internships and employment opportunities for Maritime Academy graduates.

The Miller Boat Line invites Maritime Academy cadets to tour their board and provides them safe passage from the mainland to Put-In-Bay each Fall and Spring. Learn more about the Penta County Career Center, Education and Training Teaching Professions to learn more about the Internships for High School Students to experience the teaching professions at The Maritime Academy, prior to entering college.

The Village of Put-In-Bay Island invites Maritime Academy cadets to work with them to beautify their city docks each Fall and Spring.

The SS Willlis B. Boyer allows students to tour and learn about the history of the Great Lakes and this great sea going ship.  It is a favorite site for governing board meetings. Field trips to the SS Boyer are exciting and educational.

The University of Toledo, Intermodal Transportation Institute provides generous support to The Maritime Academy of Toledo in the form of a grant that helps cover the costs of transportation to and from Maritime Academy Nautical and Environmental field trips.  One area of the Institute's focus is what is called "Short Sea Shipping" the ability to move freight by water as an alternative to overland hauling via rail or truck. Shipping routes on the Great Lakes and along the coast of the U.S. are substantially underutilized. This is an opportunity to move freight off congested highways and rail corridors onto water.

Western Great Lakes Historical Society has a "museum display" in our Academy Entrance Foyer.  Students have been trained by members of the Society to give tours to the public.
