Every Maritime Academy Cadet is encouraged to qualify for the Leadership Corps Elective course.  This course is open to any cadet who shows potential for leadership and advancement in rank.  Students enrolled in the Leadership Corps course are exposed to various topics including leaderships skills, qualities of a leader, leadership philosophies and methods, communication skills, and planning skills.  All cadets in the Leadership Corps Class are expected to achieve on-going advancement in rank in order to advance through to the Cadet Commissioned Officer Corps.
