9th-10th grade Charting Your Course Cohort: The cadets in the 9th and 10th grade cohort will begin by making graduation plans and explore career tech opportunities.
According to research conducted in Chicago, students who end their 9th grade year "on track" are four times more likely to earn a diploma than those who fall off-track.

At The Maritime Academy of Toledo cadets in the 9th grade will take the following classes (or a similar list):
- English 1
- Algebra 1- Includes an Ohio State End of Course Exam
- Biology- Includes an Ohio State End of Course Exam
- World Studies
- Maritime Skills
- Physical Education
- Health
- Art 1
This list has a total of 7.5 credits and 9th grade cadets should have at least 5 to be considered "On Track."
